The Bedford HA Van was introduced in 1963 and was derived from the Vauxhall Viva HA saloon car. In a production run of over 20 years, it outlived all the subsequent generations of the Vauxhall Viva, the HA, HB & HC.

Such was the popularity of these vans with buyers from single tradesmen through to large corporations, it was not uncommon for them to exist in large fleets with consecutive registrations. Today, they have all but disappeared; victims of that eternal scourge, rust, that ate so many of our 60's & 70's classics.

This van is particularly rare as it is a South African Import (so Right-hand drive). The body has survived quite well as you can see. It may be that these HA vans were exported to SA as Complete Knock Down (CKD) kits. However it is likely that the engine was more locally sourced with approval from GM as it does not appear to be the regular UK 1256cc unit. The engine is not seized but I have not tried to start it. Vehicle comes complete with a whole chest full of spares including those missing rear lights.
