Many of these were as rotten as pears when I used to look at them 25 years ago. To find one as solid and original as this at over 40 years old is a rare discovery. Introduced as a compromising mix of existing designs, perhaps the Sunbeam Rapier Fastback always looked a little awkward. Not surprising as it consisted of Hillman Hunter Estate Floor Pan & rear lights fused with a Humber Sceptre front end. Never a massive seller as it was largely eclipsed by the competition, including Ford's then newly introduced Capri. Interestingly, in a 1975 Autocar survey of Coupes, just prior to the Fastback being discontinued, one tester still chose the Sunbeam Rapier.

Now it is a real 60's/70's Classic with American looks thanks to that Plymouth Barracuda styling. Its black 7 dial dash giving it a true sporting feel. Smooth 4 speed gearbox + overdrive. Period Rostyle wheels. This bronze metallic example runs & drives very well indeed. MOT & Tax Jan 2015. (Tax Exempt) Bright work & interior in excellent condition. One to preserve & enjoy.
